OVERVIEW

Artesonraju is a peak located between the Santa Cruz Valley (north side) and Parón Valley (south side) in the Cordillera Blanca. It is known as the "Paramount" as it is suggested that this magnificent pyramid shape peak is the mountain depicted in the paramount pictures logo.

ITINERARY

Day 1. Huaraz – Cashapampa (2,900m) – Llamacorral Camp (3760m)

We depart from Huaraz to Cashapampa (about 3 hours), where our donkey driver loads our gear, and we begin the 5-hour trek through the Santa Cruz Valley to Llamacorral Base Camp.

Day 2. Llamacorral – Taullipampa (4200m)

We continue to the next campsite at Taullipampa, approximately a 6-hour walk.

Day 3. Taullipampa – Moraine camp (5000m)

After breakfast, we ascend a rocky path with panoramic views of Alpamayo, Quitaraju, and Taulliraju. In about 5 hours, we reach the moraine camp, set up tents, and rest for the summit attempt with porter support.

Day 4. Moraine Camp – Summit (6025m) – Moraine Camp – Taullipampa.

Around midnight, we begin our 7-hour ascent to the summit. After capturing stunning photos at the top, we descend to High Camp and continue to Taullipampa Base Camp.

Day 5. Taullipampa - Llamacorral – Cashapampa – Huaraz

We follow the same trail back to Cashapampa, where we transfer to Huaraz.

Fitness and Acclimatization:

  • It is essential to be in excellent health, good physical condition, and properly acclimatized to the altitude.
Insurance:

  • Having suitable insurance is crucial for high altitude activities. Please ensure your policy has the appropriate level of coverage.

  • Softshell jacket: this should be a windproof nylon/synthetic blend jacket
  • Outer jacket: waterproof with a hood (Gore-Tex)
  • Insulated jacket: synthetic or down
  • Gaiters – must fit over mountain boots
  • Mountaineering gloves – lightweight
  • Mountaineering gloves – medium to heavyweight
  • Warm Hat: that covers your ears and fits under a helmet
  • Sunhat: to protect your face and neck
