ITINERARY
Day 1. Huaraz – Huallanca – Queropalca (3831 m) – CarhuacochaEarly in the morning, we drive to Huanucopampa, where we stop for lunch and take a brief visit to the Huanucopampa Archaeological Complex. Afterward, we continue to the village of Queropalca, where our journey transitions into a gentle ascent toward our campsite at the stunning Laguna Carhuacocha (4,150m). From there, we are treated to breathtaking views of the majestic Nevados Jirishanca, Yerupaja, and Siula Mountains.
Day 2. Carhuacocha – Siulá Viewpoint – Carhuacocha
We begin our ascent to Siulá viewpoint (4700m), where we can admire the three lakes together with the surrounding mountains. This spot offers some of the most stunning views on the circuit. We return to our campsite along the same trail, with a total trekking duration of approximately 5 to 6 hours.
Day 3. Carhuacocha – Carhuac Pass – Janca
We begin our hike with a steady ascent to Carhuac Pass (4,630m), where we are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. From there, we descend to our campsite in Jancapampa. After setting up camp and enjoying a well-earned rest, we spend the afternoon exploring the serene beauty of Mitucocha Lake. Approximate trekking time: 5 hours.
Day 4. Janca – Paso Cacananpunta – Matacancha
We continue our ascent towards Cacananpunta Pass (4,690m). Once reaching the pass we descend to Matacancha (4100m), where we spend the night. 5 to 6 hours trek
Day 5. Matacancha – Rondoy Pass – Jahuacocha
Our journey begins with an ascent to the Rondoy Pass (4,750m), offering spectacular views of the towering peaks of the Cordillera Huayhuash, with Yerupaja commanding the horizon. We then make our way down to the stunning Laguna Jahuacocha (4,050m) campsite, passing Laguna Solteracocha along the descent. 7 to 8 hours trek.
Day 6. Jahuacocha – Pampa Llamac Pass – Llamac - Huaraz
On our final day of trekking, we enjoy our last glimpses of the magnificent mountain range before making a steady descent to Llamac. Here, our transport will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz. Approximate trekking time: 5 hours, followed by a 4-hour drive.
